A free WordPress plugin that makes every image on your website smaller and faster, automatically.
Free · Version 1.0.0 · 10 KB · WordPress 6.0+ · PHP 7.4+ · No account or API key
What It Does
- Converts new uploads to WebP. Every JPEG and PNG you upload becomes a WebP the moment it lands in your Media Library.
- Resizes oversized photos. Phone photos are often 4000px wide and several megabytes. The plugin resizes them to 2048px, which is sharp on any screen.
- Converts your existing library in one click. Images you uploaded before installing are converted too, and their links in posts, pages and Elementor are updated for you.
- Keeps your originals. Old links keep working and one click restores everything. Delete the originals later if you want the space back.
- Runs on your own server. Your images never leave your hosting. No monthly quota, no sign-up, no limits.
Why WebP Matters
Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page. WebP files are typically 25 to 35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality, and much smaller than PNG. Smaller images mean faster pages, which Google measures through Core Web Vitals and uses in ranking. Most of your visitors in Nigeria browse on mobile data, so every megabyte you save also saves them money and keeps them on your site.
In our testing, a 4000 × 3000 phone photo of 1.4 MB became a 2048 × 1536 WebP of 290 KB: 80% smaller, with no visible loss in quality.
Images are one of nine common causes of a slow website. Read why your WordPress site is slow and how to fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the plugin really free?
Yes. There is no paid version, no usage limit and no account to create.
Will it break my images?
No. The original files stay on your server until you choose to delete them, so old links keep working, and Restore originals puts everything back as it was. If a WebP would be bigger than the original, the plugin keeps the original. Your site icon and logo are never changed.
Does my hosting support WebP?
Almost certainly. Hostinger, Namecheap, Whogohost, SiteGround and most other hosts support WebP through PHP. The plugin checks for you and shows a clear message if yours does not.
Does it work with Elementor?
Yes. When it converts existing images, it updates the image links inside Elementor pages and clears Elementor’s cache.
Can I use it with LiteSpeed Cache or another image optimizer?
Use one WebP method, not two. If LiteSpeed’s Image Optimization or another optimizer already serves WebP on your site, pick one to avoid doing the work twice.
